Google’s Best Pixel Phone (2021): Which Model to Buy, Cases, Tips, and More

[ad_1]

The Pixel 5, however, has a few additional benefits that make it more useful. First of all, it’s one of the most compact high-end Android phones, so it’s a great option if you like small phones. It has many of the same features as the Pixel 5A, including a processor, waterproof and camera system, but you to do get wireless charging and a screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which means the display will look and feel more responsive when interacting with it.

5G support on the Pixel 5 is also better. Depending on your carrier you will be able to access the 5G millimeter wave, this is a super fast version. It’s not so available nationwide, so it can be a moot point. However, the phone supports the C-band, which is an upcoming spectrum that operators such as AT&T and Verizon plan to implement by the end of the year to provide improved access and 5G speeds under 6. In this area, it is more protected from the future than Pixel 5A.

Unfortunately, these improvements don’t cost $ 250. What’s worse, we’ve already had trouble finding Pixel 5 in other retail stores. If you want to buy it in use, we do not recommend spending more than $ 450 on it.

Avoid these old pixel phones

The Pixel 3 range is too old and this includes the Pixel 3A. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL suffer from poor battery performance. All of these old phones will also stop receiving software updates in 2022. You better buy one of the new models.

The official Pixel 5A case feels like it provides more protection than the previous ones, from Google. It comes in several fun colors, has a two-layer design that helps absorb shocks when dropped, and has raised edges on the front to protect the screen. The inner layer is made of 75-percent recycled plastic. My only advantage is that it is not very fragile, which increases the already large phone.

Of all the Pixel cases I’ve tried, this one feels the best. It has a wonderful texture, pleasant to the touch, and the body retains a thin profile. The buttons remain clickable and the ports are well open. It is accessible, but the leading edges are not raised. There is a good chance that when you fall the screen will hit the ground.

Pixel phones don’t have great results with screen strength – they’re easy to scratch. For the new Pixel 5A I like the screen protector made of tempered glass Caseology. Installation is simple, it includes a squeegee to get rid of air bubbles. You get two screen protectors for the price, including a microfiber cloth, a napkin and a sticker to remove dust.

This is a two-layer case from Otterbox feels really tough but pretty thin. The edges around the camera module and front screen are raised, the buttons are easy to press, and the headphone jack and USB-C port are protected from the elements. This offers a step in defense compared to the options described above.

This plastic case is made from 85 percent recycled plastic from salvaged fishing gear. It is a sturdy and rigid case that retains its shape, and the side buttons remain clickable even after prolonged use. When you buy a case, LifeProof donates a dollar to a nonprofit water organization.

The Pixels have great cameras, but you can go further using third-party lenses like the Moment. Stick on a fisheye lens to get a fun, distorted photo effect. Use a 58mm telephoto lens to get even closer to the subject. Whatever lens you choose, you will need a case for the system to work. The company’s cases do not add much weight to the phone, the buttons still click, and the back has a nice grip texture. Applying or removing the lens with a simple turn takes about two seconds. Unfortunately, Moment makes no excuse for the new Pixel 5A 5G.

This is a nice Pixel case with a stand. You can prop it up at different angles with a folding leather valve on the back in a horizontal or vertical orientation. He can even keep a credit card or two. It’s chunky, and the cards can be a little hard to remove, but the buttons are easy to press. It also has raised edges on the front to protect the screen.

Here’s another sturdy (and affordable) case for the stand. It is thick but provides good protection and the buttons remain very clickable. Unfortunately, the stand only supports the phone in landscape orientation. It’s not so good to talk TikToks without hands.

Wireless charging is only available on the Pixel 5 (out of the pixels in this guide). Google’s own Pixel Stand is one of the best wireless chargers because it’s simple. The base doesn’t slip, the phone stays in place, and it provides some cool features such as turning the screen into a digital photo frame and quick access to Google Now. There are more options in our “Best Wireless Chargers” guide.
